Legacy Elementary is a wonderful place to teach art. Using my artistic gifts for the good of the community has always been extremely satisfying. I’ve always been passionate about learning and education and I am always looking for creative ways to link art with academic subjects. There are so many ways that art can enhance a person’s life. There are so many lessons it has to teach us if we are paying attention. I use art as a vehicle to awaken to the deeper levels of myself and life. This is the underlying philosophy that I bring to the classroom. Expression of self and of life is what I believe brings great meaning and relevance to the arts. I love helping our children define and refine what that means to them personally. It is a powerful tool for developing confidence, self esteem and insight.
Both of my Bachelor degrees in Art and Education were awarded from Eastern Michigan University. I recently received my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. I must say that although I learned a great many things from these experiences, it was the time I spent being a professional artist that helped me go deeply into myself and I learned how to express myself ever more clearly. Now my greatest joy is to pass this information on to my students and watch as they become ever more proficient in the language of art. I love what I do and feel very blessed and honored to be able to work with my colleagues, the children and parents of this community.
